The Flying Stone Pagoda is also called the mortar-filled stone pagoda. Being 748 meters above the sea level, the pagoda is the highest point of the Phoenix Mountain Park. This hexagonal pagoda is only 2.95 meters high, but has seven storeys. On each storey, there are six Buddhist statues. In all, it has 40 Buddhist statues in addition to tablet inscription. This exquisite stone pagoda seats on a 17.6-meter-high mortar base. The original pagoda was built in 1877 (the second year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty), and the existing one was rebuilt in 1998. |
