Taoyuan Temple

Issuing time:2021-11-03 20:01

The Taoyuan Temple, originally called the Miaofeng Temple, is the first Taoist temple officially opened by Beijing’s Haidian District. Built during the reign of Emperor Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty, the temple changed to its present name when Liu Mingrui, the 20th-generation master of the Quanzhen Nanwu sect of Taoism, was presiding over the temple. In 2003, Master Huang Xinyang, vice chairman of the Taoist Association of China and chairman of the Taoist Association of Beijing, presided over the reconstruction of the temple. The place officially became a ground for Taoist activities on April 6, 2006. With its unique health preservation culture, the rebuilt temple has been attracting more and more tourists and has become one of the most distinctive and most fascinating tourist attractions of the Phoenix Mountain.
