Baita Reservoir

The dam of the Baita Reservoir is 40 meters long and 16 meters high. It was built by the Xishan Farm to irrigate the fruit trees downhill. Later, it became a reservoir by intercepting the flood from uphill. It derives its name from the fact that there are seven white pagodas built before 1959 in honor of the abbot of the Longquan Temple. Nestling in tall white poplars, the pagodas are arranged in two rows, with the three 5-meter-high smaller ones being in the front row and the four 7-meter-high taller ones in the back. The bases of the pagodas are paneled with local granite and are filled with white mortar. The bodies of the pagodas are built with grey bricks and covered with white mortar. The reservoir is also called the July 1^st Reservoir because it was inaugurated on July 1.
