Xuanyuan CaveIssuing time:2021-11-03 20:11 The Xuanyuan Cave, also called the Cave of Eight Immortals, was a ground for the ancients to practice asceticism for self liberation. Facing the southeast, the cave was dug from a huge granite rock. There are statues of three immortals, all of them being half a meter high, sitting straight on their knees, smiling and having different hand gestures. They were flanked by three figures on the left and two on the right, all of them having the same height of the sitting immortals. The three males stand with their hands placing on the pubic region and the two females stand putting their palms together. Their different postures reflect the culture of health preservation during the Liao and Jin Dynasties. Inside the cave, there is a stone slot to catch rains, which flow into the hole along a S-shaped route before flowing out of the cave. This can purify the air in the cave and prevent rains from eroding the interior. NextJisheng Pagoda
