Legend goes that Wei Gongyang in ancient times offered medical care to the ordinary people and later died in this cave. Moved by his deeds, local people called him Lord Wei and built a hall and a pagoda in the Longquan Temple to honor him. In addition, they also built a stone statue for him in the cave and called the Fenghuang Mountain the Lord Mountain. On September 17 of lunar calendar each year, alleged to be the birthday of Lord Wei, local people flocked to the cave to pay their respect and pray for safety for their family members.
