Ruins of Shangfang Temple

Issuing time:2021-11-03 19:58

The Shangfang Temple was built in 960 (the 10th year of the reign of Emperor Yinli of the Liao Dynasty). It is located on a hill (over 650 meters above the sea level) along the north route of the Phoenix Mountain Park. Tablet inscription indicates that the temple had a prime time of over 300 years, from the reign of Emperor Tianshun of the Ming Dynasty to the reign of Emperor Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty. But it declined in the late years of the Qing Dynasty. The original temple faced the east and had three major halls: the Tianwang Hall, the Daxiongbao Hall and the Sanshen Hall. But the existing temple has only an exquisite seven-storey hexagonal pagoda, an ancient ginkgo and several damaged tablets.
